Bluefield Holdings, Inc. constructed the Tribal Elder Bernice White Place (formerly Site 1) project on the west side of the West Waterway in 2012-2013. The project was constructed on Seattle Dept. of Transportation-owned lands, resulting in 1.01 acres of habitat, including mudflat, marsh, vegetated riparian buffer and forested uplands. Based on the Bluefield design, Tribal Elder Bernice White Place was converted from an open, industrial property that was covered with invasive species to a highly functional habitat. The site includes access to the forested upland and a viewing area overlooking the tidal marsh and the Duwamish waterway.
Bluefield Holdings, Inc. constructed this restoration project to provide Natural Resource Damage credits for settling parties, including the City of Seattle and several other private entities. The credits from this site are sold out.
